Lizzo was a part of a prog-rock group that she sang in and occasionally played the flute. Her family relocated to Denver which meant she was on the road on her own, trying to launch her career in Houston. Lizzo was a single woman in her car, often lying on the floor in her studio recording studio and she washed at the gym. Lizzo lost her father at twenty years old. It was a devastating loss for both of them, because they were very close. She quit the group in 2010, after her father's death. Following a brief stint in Denver in the year 2010, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis at the request of her friend in the year 2011. Lizzo quickly found herself in the center of the Minneapolis music scene. She was a member of the girls' group Chalice and GRRRL PRTY. The album she released her debut album, Lizzobangers was released in 2013 by an independent label.
